Erica Pierce CE 4001

“I wanted [Erica Pierce] to be desirably feminine in appearance to contrast with her world-dominatrix character flaws. Her see-through top is somewhat perverted when you consider that her only companion is her ne’er do well bastard son Albert. I’ve always felt that Shooter could have finessed the Oedipus aspect with finer character work, but he wanted the stories to be action--oriented. I gave him plenty of shots and lots of room to write some between-the-lines dialogue, but he scripted the story as if it was the nineteen-sixties and [Valiant was] under the thumb of [the Comics Code Authority.] I suppose that’s fine if that’s the intention, but why create an Oedipal relationship if you’re not going to employ it in the story?”
