ADASTRA IN AFRICA

It features H.R.H. Princess Adastra of Young GODS, from Windsor-Smith's STORYTELLER series.

Banished from her own home world, Adastra returns to Earth and an African village that she had visited years before. This poignant tale of an outsider attempting to bring relief to a famine-stricken, but defiantly proud people features some of the most compelling writing and beautiful drawing of Windsor-Smith's career.

Initially created in the mid-1980s, it was intended to be the third and final installment of the acclaimed Chris Claremont/BWS LifeDeath issues of Marvel Comics' The Uncanny X-Men. This remarkable story, left untouched in the artist’s files for over a decade, has now been reworked as an episode from Lady Adastra’s early life on planet Earth.

ADASTRA IN AFRICA is augmented by an amusing interview with the irrepressible princess, conducted at the Plaza hotel, after her return to New York following a lengthy hiatus from the comics universe.

is a 56 page black and white graphic novel published by Fantagraphics Books in 1999.
