and ink drawing of Conan. This
piece was fully inked by BWS in 2000
over a pencil study from his 1987
cover painting for Conan Saga #4.
Signed BWS, dated 2000. Pen and Ink.
10 1/2 x 14 1/2" on heavy vellum.

Note: This original is the product of the artist's
working process in creating a major painting.
It was a pencil drawing on vellum, done as an
intermediate stage in evolution of the finished
piece, which was subsequently fully finished in
ink, becoming a separate original in its own right.
The vellum on which this drawing was done has
wrinkled due to the drying of the ink wash of
the black background, and, to a lesser extent,
the detailed pen work in the figure area. There
are also a few tiny tears and creases in the area
above the figure that are well masked by the
black ink wash.
